It’s something most of us do so rarely. I remember sleeping outside once as a teenager on a very warm Summer’s evening. And looking up to the night sky, seeing all those stars. And just being in awe… and wondering…
There are billions of them in our galaxy alone. The current estimate is over 100 billion! To put that into perspective, if you’d count at a rate of one star per second, it would take you over 3000 years to count all the stars in our Milky Way.
We cannot really comprehend these things. But to me, that’s the beauty of it. We think we have it all figured out. That we know so much. That we’re so powerful. But really, looking up at all those stars, we see there’s so much we don’t know. And probably even more we don’t even realize we don’t know.
We’re clever, we humans. But we’re also quite clueless. Good to take a moment sometimes to reflect on that.
So when you have a chance, take a look up at the stars tonight. Who knows what you’ll see…
